Slack
Connect your Slack account to work with the 8090 Software Factory agent directly from Slack.
Connect your Slack account to work with the 8090 Software Factory agent from Slack. Message the bot to start a conversation on your chosen project. You can also have replies from chats you start in 8090 Software Factory sent to Slack.
No separate organization setup
Each member connects their own account. Connecting also adds the 8090 Software Factory bot to the Slack workspace you choose, so no one needs to turn on Slack for your organization first.
Connect your account
Open Accounts
Go to Settings → Connections → Accounts and find the Slack Account card.
Connect to Slack
Select Connect to Slack, then choose your workspace and complete the authorization in Slack. Back in 8090 Software Factory, check the accounts shown on the Connect Slack page and select Connect.
If your Slack workspace requires admins to approve new apps, a Slack workspace admin may need to approve the 8090 Software Factory app before you can finish.
If you have visited a project recently, it is preselected as your Connected Project. Otherwise, choose one in your preferences. If you message the bot before you set a Connected Project, it asks you to choose one first.
Set your preferences
After you connect, the Slack Account card shows your bot preferences. They apply to all of your conversations with the bot.
| Preference | What it does |
|---|---|
| Connected Project | The project the bot works on for conversations you start in Slack. Slack has no project picker, so you set it here. Chats you start in 8090 Software Factory and follow in Slack keep their own project. |
| Model | The model the bot uses. Leave it on Auto to use the default model, or turn Auto off to pick a model and set its Reasoning, Context, and Fast options, the same way as in agent chat. |
| Send agent responses to Slack | On by default. Replies from chats you start in 8090 Software Factory are also sent to your Slack conversation with the bot. |
Select Save Preferences to apply changes, or Unlink Slack Account to disconnect.
Use the bot
You can reach the bot two ways:
- Mention it in a channel. The bot replies in a thread under your message. Mention it again in that thread to continue the conversation.
- Message it directly. Send the bot a direct message.
The bot works on your Connected Project using your chosen model. Its replies show the project and model, with an Open in Software Factory button that opens the conversation in 8090 Software Factory. To point the bot at a different project, change the Connected Project in your preferences, then start a new conversation.
A channel or group thread keeps the project it started on, even if you change your Connected Project later. The conversation stays with the person who started the thread. When someone else mentions the bot in that thread, the bot replies only to them, and their message isn't added to the conversation:
- If they haven't connected their 8090 Software Factory account to Slack, the bot asks them to connect it.
- If they can't access the thread's project, the bot tells them to ask a project admin for access.
- Otherwise, the bot asks them to start their own thread.
With Send agent responses to Slack on, replies from chats you start in 8090 Software Factory also appear in your Slack conversation with the bot, so you can follow along from either place.
What works only in web chat
Slack can't show forms or approval cards, so the bot can't do these in Slack:
- Ask you questions with a question form.
- Take actions that need your confirmation, such as deleting items or creating, editing, and deleting automations.
- Use MCP Server tools set to Confirm in your tool permissions. Tools set to Allow still work.
Use web chat in 8090 Software Factory for these.
